About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Management Accountant – Operations to join our Finance team in a commercially critical role supporting our operational leadership. Reporting to the Lead Mine & Operations Support, this position is ideally suited to a seasoned management accountant who thrives in complex, asset‑intensive environments and brings a strong focus on cost control, accuracy, and insight‑driven decision‑making.

This role plays a key part in the organisation’s annual budgeting and monthly forecasting processes, partnering closely with operational and corporate stakeholders to ensure financial plans reflect business priorities and operational realities. Through a strong ability to interpret financial data, identify trends, and challenge assumptions where required, you will provide clear, commercially focused insights to senior management to support strategy and informed decision‑making.

A core responsibility of the role is owning the endtoend monthly reporting cycle, including the delivery of high‑quality financial analysis and performance commentary. You will manage key month‑end accounting activities such as accruals, provisions, allocations and cost transfers, ensuring results are accurate, timely, and compliant with internal standards. A regular site presence will be required to maintain strong operational alignment and credibility.

Duties:

  • Partner with operations to support medium‑ and long‑term planning, with a strong focus on cost discipline, productivity measurement and operational efficiency
  • Deliver clear, concise monthly performance analysis and commentary that highlights risks, trends and improvement opportunities
  • Provide robust financial guidance on operational and strategic decisions, including evaluation of capital proposals and business cases
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of accounting processes, policies and procedures
  • Work collaboratively with the commercial analytics team on targeted insights and ad‑hoc initiatives
  • Travel to site on a fortnightly basis to maintain strong stakeholder engagement and operational understanding

Skills and Experience: 

  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or Business; CA or CPA highly regarded
  • Significant management accounting experience within a medium to large organisation, ideally in nickel, alumina, processing, refinery or manufacturing environments
  • Strong grounding in monthly cost reporting, forecasting and operational cost control
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel capability and experience using Power BI for reporting and analysis
  • Exposure to SAP ERP systems highly desirable
  • Confident communicator with experience in effective partnering with senior operational stakeholders, challenge constructively, and influence outcomes
